Email Marketing is a cost-effective method of continuing the conversation you start with your website's users. But just like a website, a strong email campaign requires a bit more thought then just hitting the send button.
The execution of a successful campaign involves the careful crafting of content, finding a happy middle ground in presentation between eye-grabbing graphics and the limitations imposed by modern email clients and cultivation of your database. But as they say content is king, and nowhere does this saying hold more thrue than with the content of your campaign.
There isn't much point in sending an email if you don't have anything to say to your customers. It's not about the quantity of content but the quality. Your content needs to be fresh, directing clients to your latest news or your newest products; it needs to be engaging and it needs to be short. Modern email browsers have some limitations that affect the presentation of your communications. A number of browsers strip images from your emails which is why it is important that your email looks as compelling without images as it does with images. This is the main reason why it's important to concentrate on good copy, as you can't guarantee that your stunning design will be seen by all those who receive your email.
It's also important to pay attention to your database, making sure that you use the statistics generated by already sent campaigns to determine the best time to send to your readers as well as weeding out those users that bounce continually or never open your emails.
